Colonel Bennett is currently the Deputy Commanding Officer for U.S. Army Cadet Command.


Colonel Robert W. Bennett was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Marion Military Institute where he earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Alabama. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from Ball State University and a Masters of Military Studies from the U.S. Army War College.


His prior assignments include Deputy Director, Military Personnel Management; Army G1, Director, Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate, HRC; G1, Army Materiel Command, Fort Belvoir; Director of Staff, International Security Assistance Force, Joint Command (Afghanistan); G1, V Corps, Germany; Branch Chief, Adjutant General’s Branch, Officer Personnel Management Directorate, HRC; CJ1, Combined Security Transition Command (Afghanistan); C1, Multi-National Forces – Northwest (Iraq); G1, 2D Infantry Division, Korea; Brigade S3, 8th Personnel Command, Korea; Executive Officer, 82d Soldier Support Battalion, Fort Bragg; Chief, Strength Management, G1, 82d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg; HHD Commander, Johnston Atoll, United States Army Chemical Activity Pacific; and Aide-de-Camp, Commanding General Fort Benjamin Harrison.


Colonel Bennett is a graduate of the Adjutant General’s Basic and Advanced Courses; Air Assault School; Airborne School; Jumpmaster School; Ranger School; U.S. Army Combined Arms and Services Staff School; Marine Corps Command and Staff College; and the U.S Army War College.


Colonel Bennett’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Bronze Star Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), NATO Meritorious Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (7th Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), Ranger Tab, Air Assault Badge, Master Parachutist Badge and the Combat Action Badge.
