Lieutenant General Vaughn
Director, Army National Guard

Our nation faces new and difficult challenges across the globe and here at home. To maintain our freedoms, our interests, and our way of life, the United States must not only react to these changes, we must anticipate, plan and prepare for them. Much of that responsibility falls on the men and women of the U.S. Army National Guard.

The brave members of this agile, highly skilled force prove their patriotism every single day, and that they are committed to serving our country - at a moment's notice - even during the most turbulent times.

Many Army National Guard officers begin their leadership journey within Cadet Command, where National Guard-bound lieutenants master the basic officer leader traits prior to commissioning and assignment to their officers basic course and ultimately a National Guard Unit. This site is intended to inform both ROTC detachment cadre and the cadets assigned to it what their National Guard options are, and how a cadet can best position him/herself for branch and unit assignment of choice.
